The Russian Orthodox cemetery, established in the 1920s for the White Russian emigre community, is the largest of its kind in western Europe. Notable burials include the writer Ivan Bunin, the dancer Rudolf Nureyev, and several members of Russian aristocratic families.
The commune grew rapidly after the Second World War from a small town into a suburban centre. The Donjon, a medieval tower, is one of the few surviving structures from the original village. RER C serves nearby stations.
